Rumors of a new generation of Switch game consoles have been regularly appearing on the net for the last couple of years. Today the American company Universal Display Corp. has revealed information about the type of display that the Nintendo Switch Pro will be equipped with an OLED display. Nintendo has not yet confirmed this information.
Universal Display licenses OLED technology to many of the consumer electronics market leaders. The company’s latest earnings report, according to Twitter account Spawn Wave, provides a direct reference to the display type of the upcoming Switch Pro console:
“In the gaming market, we have found that Nintendo has chosen an OLED screen for the new Switch Pro due to the OLED benefits such as high contrast and faster response times.”
Strictly speaking, this information cannot be considered official, since it doesn’t come from Nintendo. However, Universal Display is a serious brand, and any data reported in the income/expense statement is likely to be true. You won’t have to wait long to be convinced of this: judging by numerous leaks, the release of the new generation of Nintendo’s game console will take place this year.
