Twitter Reached 152 Million Users Worldwide

At the same time, Twitter announced that for the first time in a quarter – in the last quarter of 2019 – its revenues exceeded one billion dollars ($ 1.01 billion) and were increased by 11% compared to the last quarter of 2018.

The announcement prompted his stock to move up in the US stock market. Most of its revenue came from the United States, while its users grew from other countries, as internationalization continues.

Its advertising revenue in the fourth quarter of 2019 reached $ 885 million (of which $ 509 million in the US and the rest in the rest of the world), up 12% from the last quarter of 2018.

But its net profit was below expectations, reaching $ 119 million, up from $ 255 million a year ago, due to a 22% increase in spending last year. Twitter staff increased by 900 people in 2019, reaching 4,800 employees.

Twitter announced last November that it would stop accepting paid political ads worldwide, and announced a few days ago that it would fight “deepfake” videos and photos created with special software. In both cases, the line is more aggressive than Facebook and its competitors.
