Mark Zuckerberg is preparing to make big changes in the next two years regarding what we have known so far as instant messaging. So it aims to integrate Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger applications.
Although they will retain their autonomy, at a deeper level it will now be possible for users’ messages to “travel” between the three services.
According to the BBC and the New York Times, Facebook spoke of the beginning of “a long process”, the initiative that Zuckerberg had.
The goal of the Facebook founder is to make his services more useful and increase the time users spend on them. At the same time, Facebook, thanks to integration, will be able to compete more effectively with Google and Apple.
For Facebook, the changes look forward to more revenue from Instagram and WhatsApp, which generate small revenue, even though they have a large number of users, according to the same post.
To date, Facebook has allowed Instagram and WhatsApp to function as largely independent companies. The decision to unify created internal divisions and was partly the reason for the founders of the two companies, which had previously been acquired by Facebook, to leave in 2018.
