Microsoft Has Stopped Development of Windows 10X

Back in the fall of 2019, when Microsoft held one of its last events before the pandemic, Microsoft went into detail about Windows 10X. The company’s original goal was to make Windows 10X a more modern and lighter version of standard Windows, optimized for dual-screen devices. At one point, it was speculated that Windows 10X would even surpass Chrome OS.

However, after the delay and prioritization of single-screen devices, Windows 10X will likely never see the light of day. According to the information resource Petri, via The Verge, Microsoft will not release Windows 10X this year. However, in a general context, it sounds like “most likely will never be launched.” Instead, Microsoft is reportedly planning to integrate some of the features designed for Windows 10X into Windows 10. It’s about a user interface and a suite of apps that testers said were quite usable.
