Spotify has introduced the new group session feature, which allows multiple users to control the same playback, a feature that is already available although only in the testing phase for paid subscribers.
Group sessions are a collaborative element Spotify had already unveiled in September 2019, and they allow users to become hosts of a session by sharing a QR code with guests, who must scan it to join.
Once inside a group session, all users can control the list and what is played at any time, as well as add new songs, as reported by the music streaming service through its support page. It is possible to leave the session at any time.
The song playback queue is automatically updated on all participants’ devices, and sessions end after an hour of inactivity, The Verge portal reported.
The new group sessions are available in beta from Monday, but will only be found for now in the mobile version of Spotify and for users of the ‘premium’ subscriptions of the service.
