From the beginning month of launching, October 2019, Surface Laptop 3, some users reported cracks appearing on their laptop screens for no apparent reason. Microsoft first said it had been investigating the matter in February, and today, the corporate explained a possible explanation for the matter and offered free reparations to victims (through ZDNet).
“We have investigated the claims of cracks on the screen of the Surface Laptop 3 and have determined that in a very small percentage of cases, hard foreign particles can cause glass fractures that can appear unexpectedly or without a visible cause,” Microsoft said in a supporting document.
“If you believe your Surface Laptop 3 is experiencing this problem, you will be recommended to contact our Microsoft Support for a free repair during the device’s warranty period,” the company added.
Microsoft further states that if you have previously paid for any repair that you believe should be covered by this new policy, you may contact Microsoft Technical Support for a possible refund.
