Google has updated its virtual assistant with new functions aimed at making it easier to manage devices and daily tasks, such as new routines at sunrise or sunset and the compatibility with the iPhone of the ‘Find my device‘ function.
‘Find my device’ is a function that allows you to locate any compatible device with which it is paired, and that also allows its use with the assistant through the Nest smart screens and speakers.
As a novelty, Google has reported that the function also allows iPhone phones to be located, as reported on its blog. To do this, the user will need to activate the alerts and notifications of the Google Home application on the Apple mobile, in order that it can emit the situation sound even if it is muted.
With the use of Duplex, the Assistant will be able to complete an ‘online’ order made to a restaurant, either for pick-up or delivery. Google technology will fill in the contact and payment details automatically, as long as they need been saved in autocomplete.
The new Duplex feature is supported by a variety of restaurants related to Google, and can initially only be available within us, later this year.
Routines are a series of automated actions performed by the Assistant, which can be programmed or activated by voice command. Google has extended globally people who are activated at dawn or dusk which depends upon the user’s location, for instance, to show on the lights within the house when it detects that the sun goes down.
The company has also included a Routines section that suggests popular actions and makes it possible to place direct access on an Android phone to users’ favorite routines.
