After the release of RDNA 2 video cards, enthusiasts began to overclock the new graphics and search for maximum frequencies. The last in the race for numbers was the foreign overclocker Der8auer, who managed to overclock the Radeon RX 6900 XT to 3.2 GHz. However, yesterday a new participant took the place of the record holder – he also managed to bypass the hardware frequency limit and overclock the video card even more.
The HWBot website has information about fresh testing of the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT video card. The device scored first in the 3DMark Fire Strike Extreme benchmark among single GPU systems.
The record result of 37618 points was achieved thanks to the overclocking of the video card to an unimaginable frequency. Previously, experts were limited to a maximum value of 3 GHz even after software modding. But the user with the nickname OGS managed to bypass the hardware overclocking protection and force the GPU to function stably at a record 3.3 GHz frequency. At the same time, he passed testing in Fire Strike Extreme without any problems.
As a platform for experiments, the specialist used an AMD system with a Ryzen 9 5950X processor, which also worked at an increased frequency of 5.6 GHz and was cooled with liquid nitrogen. The manufacturer of the video card was not disclosed, however, the detailed information on the test says Tul Corporation, which indicates PowerColor.
