Today Asus unveiled the flagship smartphone Asus Zenfone 8 Flip. A feature of the model is a full-screen design with no holes and notches for the front camera. Instead, the developers have installed a flip-up camera that can work in standard mode and selfie camera mode.
The model received a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with FHD + resolution and protective glass Corning Gorilla Glass 6. The refresh rate of the screen is 90 Hz, the response time is 1 ms and the polling rate of the sensor layer is 200 Hz. The model measures 165.04 x 77.28 x 9.6 mm and weighs 230 g. The fingerprint reader is built-in under the screen.
The camera unit is represented by an 8 MP telephoto lens (OmniVision OV08A) with 3x optical zoom and 12x digital zoom, a 12 MP Sony IMX363 ultra-wide-angle lens, and the main camera received a Sony IMX686 sensor with a 64 MP resolution. Supports shooting video in 8K format at 30 fps. A motorized mechanism is used to raise the camera to selfie mode. According to the developers, the resource of the mechanism is 300 thousand cycles, which should be enough for eight years, if it is used about 100 times a day.
The Asus Zenfone 8 Flip received the top-end Snapdragon 888 platform, 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 128/256 GB of disk space (UFS 3.1). The installation of memory cards with a capacity of up to 2 TB is provided. The device runs on Android 11 with ZenUI 8 shell.
Battery capacity – 5000 mAh. Supports 30W fast charging function. The manufacturer installs stereo speakers with two amplifiers NXP TFA9874, NFC module. Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and Wi-Fi Direct are supported.
The Zenfone 8 Flip is currently available in Germany, where the price is €799 for the 8GB + 256GB version.
