The WSJ reports that Apple has revealed for the first time what Apple Music is paying for each stream.
According to a letter confirmed by the WSJ on April 16th, the artist was notified that he was paying $ 0.01 each time the song was delivered.
The reward system of 1 stream and 1 penny is said to be about twice the fee paid to copyright holders by the industry’s largest Spotify.
“We believe it’s important to share our value as the debate over streaming fees continues,” said Apple. “Our belief is to pay the same fee to every creator, for playback. “It’s worth it,” he said, and “the creators never have to pay to get the song featured” in an advantageous position on the company’s service.
Apple said in the letter that it paid 52% of its subscription revenue ($ 0.52 per dollar) to music companies, while Spotify had three of its subscription revenue and advertising support service revenue. Two-thirds are paid to copyright holders, of which 75-80% ($ 0.50- $ 0.53 per dollar) span music companies.
